Anti-Snoring Appliances
What causes snoring?
While sleeping, the breathing airway is made smaller when the muscles & soft tissues in the mouth and throat relax. The smaller space forces the air to flow through the airway much faster while breathing. The higher velocity causes vibration to occur in the soft tissues, such as the soft palate and the uvula, producing the snoring effect.
How do anti-snoring appliances prevent snoring?
Anti-snoring appliances use connectors attached to transparent and flexible upper& lower forms to gently position the lower jaw into a forward position. The upper & lower forms are custom laminated to a model of your mouth, providing a great fit. They are made comfortable with a soft inner layer. With the lower jaw pushed slightly forward, the airway is kept open, preventing the soft tissue vibrations that cause snoring.
